When you purchase a puppy from The Velvet Poodle, you’re welcoming a happy, healthy companion into your life—raised with love and prepared for the world beyond our home.
All of our puppies are sold with limited AKC registration. Breeding rights may be granted on a case-by-case basis to approved programs and will require an additional fee.
We stand behind the health and well-being of every puppy and provide a health guarantee for peace of mind. A signed contract is required as part of our commitment to responsible breeding and to ensure the best future for our puppies.
We begin nurturing our puppies from the moment of birth through gentle, consistent handling and touch. By day three, we introduce Avidog's Early Scent Stimulation, exposing each puppy to a variety of smells they may encounter in their future homes—such as cat hair, grass, soil, and other unique scents. This process enhances their scent recognition and environmental adaptability.
Simultaneously, we implement Dr. Carmen Battaglia’s Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) protocol. This proven method involves safely placing puppies in mildly challenging positions, helping to stimulate their developing nervous systems. These early exercises promote stronger stress responses, greater problem-solving skills, and improved situational awareness later in life.
Because our puppies are born and raised in our living room, they are naturally exposed to the everyday sights and sounds of a typical household. From the television and vacuum cleaner to the presence of other dogs and routine family activity, our puppies grow up accustomed to the noises and rhythms of daily life—helping them become confident, well-adjusted companions.
At around 2 to 3 weeks of age, we begin introducing a designated potty area within the puppy pen. By 4 weeks, most of the puppies are consistently using this space, laying a strong foundation for easy potty training in their new homes. Throughout their development, we continuously introduce new toys and stimulating experiences to encourage exploration and desensitization to a variety of sights, sounds, and textures.
By 6 weeks, the puppies graduate to a toddler pen equipped with safe obstacles, climbing structures, and interactive toys. This environment introduces them to new surfaces, gentle heights, and small steps—supporting their physical coordination, confidence, and curiosity.
By integrating the BABs (Bad Ass Breeders) and Puppy Culture programs into our breeding practices, we ensure that each puppy receives the best possible foundation for a successful life. These well-regarded programs help strengthen our breeding lines, creating puppies that are not only intelligent and adaptable but also calm, easygoing, and ready to thrive in their new homes.
We are confident that the puppies we produce will be happy, well-adjusted members of their new families, bringing joy and companionship for years to come.
